Swedese Repair – The Process
How we refurbish your Lamino or Laminett
Whether it’s a beloved heirloom in need of restoration or a newer chair ready for fresh upholstery, our skilled craftsmen refurbish your armchair using original parts—right at the Swedese factory in Småland. Here’s how we bring your Lamino, Laminett, or Kurva back to life:
1. Inspection
It all starts with an inspection by one of our specialists. Your chair is carefully assessed to determine what kind of care it needs. We evaluate whether any parts need to be repaired or replaced, or if a surface refresh is sufficient—such as reupholstering, refinishing, or updating the padding.
2. Material Selection
At our events and at our factory in Vaggeryd, you’ll find a wide selection of upholstery options: sheepskin, leather swatches, fabrics, and lacquers. When dropping off your chair, our experienced team will help guide you through material and color choices.

3. Estimate & Order
Every chair has its own unique needs. After the inspection, you’ll receive a cost estimate based on the agreed-upon refurbishment plan. Once you decide how to proceed, it’s time to place your order. We accept card payments only, and the checkout process is quick and simple before you leave.
4. Drop-Off
You can drop off your chair at one of our Repair events across Sweden or directly at our headquarters in Vaggeryd. Opening hours in Vaggeryd are Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, and Friday, 8:00 AM–1:00 PM. Visiting Vaggeryd also gives you a behind-the-scenes look at the craftsmanship behind our furniture.
5. Freezing & Disassembly
The transformation begins at our factory in Småland, where the Lamino has been made since 1956. Swedese follows a careful process for handling your furniture. Upon arrival, your chair is gently disassembled, and each part is clearly labeled to ensure it stays linked to its rightful owner.
Before we begin the refurbishment, your chair is placed in a freezing container for a few days to eliminate any potential insect damage. This is part of our commitment to ensuring a safe and thorough process for both you and our team. After freezing, we clean your chair thoroughly and gently remove the old upholstery before applying the new material.
We value open communication and will keep you informed if we discover any additional issues with the construction or other elements during the process.

6. Repair
Your chair is now ready to begin its transformation based on the choices you’ve made. We start by ensuring that the frame and all components are in good condition. Sometimes a part needs to be repaired or replaced if it’s beyond saving. We update the fittings and only use original materials and parts to maintain the aesthetic and authenticity of your chair.
7. Restoration in the Original Factory
If the surface needs some extra care, we’ll fill and sand it as needed before applying a new finish. The upholstery you’ve selected will be carefully applied using original materials to ensure a perfect fit. Once everything is assembled and the new fittings are in place, your chair is packed securely in original packaging for safe transport back to you.
